Riggs Open

Brady Mergenthal is the 2026 Riggs Open Champion!

For the final round, Brady was in the second-to-last group and he parred the 17th & 18th hole to take the clubhouse lead with 72 pts (Stableford scoring). Gary Nagle was in the last group and had a birdie putt on the final hole that would have tied him for the lead, but the putt slid by, which gave Brady the title! Nagle had 71 pts, Cody Conzet finished in 3rd place (70 pts), Craig Steen & John Bevans tied for 4th (69 pts) to round out the Top 5.

Congrats to Brady! His first Riggs Open title in his first Riggs Open!

Stableford Scoring

You score points based on the number of strokes taken at each hole. The player with the most points at the end of the tournament is the winner.

For the 2025 Riggs Open, you will get points based on the following:

5 points = Net Double Eagle

4 = Net Eagle

3 = Net Birdie

2 = Net Par

1 = Net Bogey

0 points = Net Double Bogey (or, worse)

To play for the trophy and the prize money, you will need a USGA Handicap. To clarify, you must have a current USGA Handicap Index to participate in the “stroke play” competition. Your USGA Handicap Index will be entered into the USGA course handicap calculator - to determine your particular course handicap that year (at that year’s course). If you choose not to obtain a USGA Handicap Index, you may play in the tournament as a “non-competing marker”, which means you can play (but, you will not be eligible to win the trophy or the prize money). See below for more info on obtaining a USGA Handicap. With the new world handicap system, to get your USGA Handicap Index going, you only need to post a minimum of 3 scores!

To Establish a USGA Handicap:

1) go to https://www.mngolf.org/Home

2) click on "Join Online"

3) click on "Adult Membership Sign up"

4) Click on one of the club names to join.

5) Click "Register as a new member"

6) Fill out your appropriate info and pay the appropriate fee.
